Cap'n Magneto is a comic-book graphic adventure game for the Macintosh. It features plenty of action, fighting, puzzles, surprises, and funny creatures.
This archive contains every known major release of the early Macintosh game Cap'n Magneto, in both Stuffit .sit archives, as well as a disk image for use in Basilisk II. It also includes some of the disk images of the Apple III version.
The original 1.0 version is compatible with the original (128k) Macintosh, the Macintosh Plus, and the Macintosh SE, running any version of MacOS from 1.0 to 5 or 6. It is also somewhat compatible with the vMac emulator. About 128k.
Cap'n Magneto '93 is a version of Cap'n Magneto that was never really released. It was updated for compatibility with the color Macintoshes in 1993, but the publisher went out of business before it was distributed. It should work with any of the 68000, 68020, 68030, and 68040 Macs, running System 6 or 7. Unfortunately, there is no speech synthesis with processors other than the original 68000. About 256k.
Cap'n Magneto 2.1 CARBON is compatible with Macintosh OS X. It will also run on PowerPC Macintoshes under MacOS 8.6-9.2 with CarbonLib installed in the System folder.
Cap'n Magneto 2.1 PPC is compatible with any PowerPC Macintosh running MacOS 7.5 through MacOS 9.2.
Cap'n Magneto 2.1 68K should be compatible with most later 680x0-based Macintoshes running System 7 or later. It has been tested with a Quadra 800 running MacOS 7.5.5.
Cap'n Magneto 2.1 68KBII is a build of Cap'n Magneto 2.1 68K slightly modified to be compatible with Basilisk II, a popular open-source Macintosh emulator.
In August of 2020, the author posted his registration code online stating it was now free to distribute.
